The AtruhaTeX guide

Move between Source and Visual

Use structured editing while keeping the LaTeX source authoritative.

About this guide

These instructions describe the desktop application and its configured services. For the hosted browser editor, start with the AtruhaTeX Web guides above. Desktop menu names and service settings may differ from Web.

Two views of one source

Open a LaTeX document and switch from Source to Visual. Visual projects supported document structures from the same source buffer: headings, prose, lists, mathematics, citations, images, tables, and TikZ content. Return to Source at any time to inspect the commands behind the view. The compiled PDF remains the place to check final pagination and typesetting.

Edit a simple list

Add this list inside the document body in Source, then switch to Visual. Press Enter after an item to create another visual item. Press Enter on an empty final item to leave the list. Switch back to Source to see the resulting item commands, then compile to inspect the final output.

  \item State the research question.
  \item Describe the method.
\end{itemize}

Keep complex TeX in Source

Visual is a structured projection, not a promise to render or edit every TeX construct. Unsupported syntax stays as source. For custom macros or content that cannot be represented faithfully, edit the source directly and verify it through compilation. A source fallback does not mean that the original content has been removed.

Visual layout is not a substitute for checking the compiled PDF before submitting a document.

Navigate the active view

The minimap follows the current editing surface. In Visual, prose, equations, images, and tables follow their projected positions; in Source, it returns to the source layout. Click or drag the minimap to move through the document. Use the dedicated table or TikZ editor when its object action is available.
