The AtruhaTeX guide

Add and review a reference

Import a DOI, connect a bibliography, and review duplicates before changing records.

About this guide

These instructions describe the desktop application and its configured services. For the hosted browser editor, start with the AtruhaTeX Web guides above. Desktop menu names and service settings may differ from Web.

Import a DOI

In the desktop app, paste a complete DOI, a doi: identifier, or a doi.org URL into bibliography search. Review the returned title, authors, publication details, provider, and BibTeX. Choose Copy BibTeX to inspect the source or Add to bibliography to append it to the selected file. If no bibliography exists, choose Create bibliography file. Check any missing author or year information against the work itself.

DOI lookup requires desktop networking. Registry metadata can be incomplete or incorrect; missing details are not invented.

Connect the bibliography to your document

Creating a bibliography file does not automatically select your document’s bibliography package. For a standard BibTeX project with references.bib, add a bibliography style and bibliography command before the end of the document, then cite a key that actually exists in that file. The example uses the real knuth1984 entry from the bundled journal starter. Keep an existing biblatex setup instead of mixing the two approaches.

% Before \end{document}:
\bibliographystyle{plain}
\bibliography{references}

Review duplicates before merging

Choose Review duplicates and compare the indicated fields. A shared citation key alone does not establish a duplicate. To merge confirmed records, choose Review a merge, select the canonical record and key, choose donor fields, and preview every affected file before applying. Unresolved macros, ambiguous keys, or unsupported citation commands can block a merge; edit these cases manually rather than treating a possible match as proof.

Check the result in context

Compile with the project’s bibliography workflow and inspect both the in-text citation and reference list. If a citation stays unresolved, confirm the exact key, bibliography file path, and required BibTeX or Biber step in the log. The record’s eye action can preview APA 7, Vancouver, or Harvard text in English or Arabic, but that single-record preview does not change the LaTeX style or predict document-wide numbering and disambiguation.
