The AtruhaTeX guide
Write and review together
Connect to a configured service, open a shared file, and review changes with the right permissions.
About this guide
These instructions describe the desktop application and its configured services. For the hosted browser editor, start with the AtruhaTeX Web guides above. Desktop menu names and service settings may differ from Web.
Connect and sign in
Open Account in the desktop app. Enter the service address supplied by your service operator and choose Check and connect, then sign in using the methods that service enables. To change an existing address, sign out and use Change service. A production service needs HTTPS and WebSocket support. This desktop service is configured separately from the hosted website workspace. Local desktop editing does not require an account; AtruhaTeX Web uses your verified website account.
Shared editing requires a configured account service, sign-in, and project membership. Reviewer roles, invitations, chat, and chapter permissions also require the compatible updated account server.
Join the project and open its file
Open Account → Projects. Create or upload a project you own, or ask its owner to grant access through People using your account ID or verified email. An owner can instead create a single-use invitation code; sign in and choose Join with an invitation code to accept it. Codes created in the app expire after 24 hours and must be shared manually. Open the shared project, then open a source file from its file list. Opening a local disk file by itself does not make it collaborative.
Edit together and follow a cursor
When two connected members open a shared file, their edits merge and named cursors and selections show where they are working. Your Undo reverses your own editing operations while preserving the other person’s contribution. In People in this project, choose Jump to cursor or Follow cursor for a connected collaborator with an available position. Typing, scrolling, or clicking in the editor stops following. Watch the connection and pending-change status; a displayed cursor is presence information, not proof that every edit has been saved.
Continue in the browser
A hosted browser workspace can open the same shared text project as the desktop app. On a phone or tablet, open its member link, review the service address, sign in and open the shared source file. The link does not grant access: project membership is still required. Edits, remote cursors, discussions and history use the same configured service. Local disk files do not upload or synchronize merely because you open them.
This section describes a separately configured desktop account service. The hosted AtruhaTeX Web workspace uses your website account and includes Source/Visual editing and table/TikZ authoring. Follow the Web collaboration guide for its invitation and review controls.
Choose editing and review access
The owner manages access in Account → Projects → People. Editors can change permitted files, comment, and chat. Reviewers can discuss and suggest changes but cannot edit source or apply suggestions. Viewers can read the project and discussions. To assign one chapter, choose Editor, enable Limit editing to selected files, and select the existing TeX files. This limits editing, not visibility: the member can still read the whole project. Creating, renaming, or deleting files requires full-project editing access.
Review a specific passage
Select a passage in the shared source and open Discussion and suggestions beside history. Use Discuss selected source to add a comment or propose replacement text. An editor with access to that file reviews the current passage and replacement, confirms the displayed revision, and chooses Apply suggestion. The service saves the previous project as a recovery checkpoint before applying. If the source changed, refresh and review again; the app rejects a stale replacement instead of overwriting the changed passage. Review any local recovery copies preserved after a permission change before reinserting permitted edits.
